Who I am

I am a proud member of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and a Fellow Chartered Accountant – a recognition of professional credentials and compliance with the Institute’s bye-laws. To qualify as Chartered those years ago took a lot of commitment, but I was told, and I still believe, that it is the best and most highly regarded qualification to have as an accountant.

Qualifications are one thing, but nothing takes the place of real-life experience and I have worked with so many different small businesses now that my knowledge of the various issues they face has become very extensive.

My approach

When I first meet a prospective client, I try and get a feel for where they are with their business, the here and now.  I listen to what problems they want to overcome, and why they have come to me.  I also ask them how they want to move forward and about their goals and possible ambitions for the future.  If I feel we can work together then I will chat a bit about what I think my practice can offer, and how we can move forward.

I generally provide fixed price quotes for the services that a potential client wants based on this detailed discussion.  The service I agree to provide is therefore tailored to their specific needs, but packaged up into either a monthly, quarterly or yearly service depending on what they need.

I believe that this approach gives me a deep understanding of the customers’ needs, it offers the products that they genuinely want.

My clients consider me approachable, knowledgeable but above all reliable. I have an attention to detail that is typical of most number-crunchers and it’s probably fair to assume that my clients know that they can ask me anything about their figures safe in the knowledge I can answer.

I like to keep in regular contact with my clients – I’m genuinely interested in their business and I very much want to inspire confidence and to help them achieve their future business and financial goals.

Core values

The core values of the practice are based on honesty and integrity, high standards of professionalism and responsive accountancy and tax advice. Clients are not left with unanswered e-mails, unreturned phone calls or wondering if their accounts or tax returns will get filed on time. You know who your accountant is and that they are there to support you in the way you would expect from a professional.

I love to help people better understand their business from a financial perspective. To know your company’s real profits, where your cash is going, what the tax implications of making certain decisions are - these are the cornerstones of being in control of your business and I enjoy being a part of the success that brings.

By taking the time to understand and explain my clients’ numbers I really get to know their business – what they do well, what they need support with and where they are going. They trust me and know I will do everything I can to get them where they want to be.
